There are “bullet” fringes, which are short and dead straight for a dramatic look, sometimes to accompany a sharp bob haircut.
A full fringe, which can also look good with a bob, can be cut quite square or left longer at each side for a softer effect. There are softer fringes that can be swept over to one side, or to soften a hard line in a longer style.
Girls often start out with fringes when they are small, as this will thicken up the hair and make it neater to look at, not only that, it keeps their hair out of their eyes. Having a fringe can make you appear younger too!
Celebrities that are fond of a strong fringe look are Claudia Winkelman and Zoe Ball, Kate Middleton and Kate Moss both have softer fringes to sweep to the side. DIY fringes are popular, however, cutting your own hair is not recommended as looking in the mirror gives a false impression and you could end up with a fringe that just gets shorter and shorter to even it out!
Cutting a fringe whilst wet can be deceiving too as it will always dry a lot shorter than it is while wet.
