Always learning!

What a great start to the year…

Barber training with the one and only Phil Jarmin.

Here at 77 The Hill, we take our training very seriously.

It doesn’t matter how experienced we are in our jobs, we can always learn something new.

We decided to have a day training with Phil, for the whole team.

Phil has been in the business for a very long time and has years of experience and he brought a lot to the table.

We started early and watched while he demonstrated various barbering techniques. There were 5 models for him and he talked us through each method.

The afternoon session was used to allow the team a model each. Each model had a different length, style and finish to their hair.

Phil was on hand to oversee each one, answering questions and intervening when necessary!

Mistakes are part of the learning process

As a team, we find that we learn the most when a mistake is made. Working out of our comfort zones is good for us. When we feel under pressure or some discomfort, our brain goes into fight or flight mode and produces endorphins. This enables us to find solutions or methods to ease our pain!

Learning something new, is no different. Especially when we may let loose on our customers, we have to learn to get it right. Often repeating something over and over until we perfect it.

At the end of the session, we showed our finished models to Phil and we discussed methodology for each style.

It was a great day and we feel truly blessed to have been trained by Phil.

What an inspiration is he is!

Belated Christmas celebrations

Later that same day, the team got ready and went out for our long awaited Christmas do. We always celebrate after Christmas as December as a hair stylist is so very busy and everyone is always too tired or doing other things.

All in all, we had a great day and evening and felt it was also good for team bonding…Never a bad thing
