Hello August!
I can hardly believe how fast 2023 is going…
It only seemed like yesterday, we were announcing our Christmas opening hours!
August is traditionally quiet in salons, with many people going on holiday.
Our August has so far been busier than ever but times are changing.
What used to be a quiet month is now as busy as any other.
With perhaps the biggest shift in trading patterns for salons in a whole generation!
Traditionally Saturdays are the busiest days for hairdressers however, although it is still a busy day but since the pandemic, customers have changed their habits.
With many more people working from home now, the need to give up a Saturday afternoon or morning at the salon isn’t as great.
People working from home can sometimes be flexible, perhaps nipping out during a break to come and get a cut and blow dry or other service.
This is great for our customers but also good for us because it has undoubtedly made weekdays, like Tuesday or Wednesday, much busier.
It gives more availability at weekends to customers that simply cannot attend the salon during the week, or perhaps don’t have childcare.
We have heard of several salons that are trialling Saturday closures. This is obviously good for staff morale but I’m not sure we are there just yet.
I don’t think 77 The Hill will be closing its doors on Saturdays for a long time!
