Training Inspiration!

This week, we had the pleasure of some new training with Jamie from Schwarzkopf.

We had 4 models to work on. After much discussion, we chose how we were going to create some gorgeous colour work.

Our first model, already had balayage, which needed refreshing and had grown out considerably. We lightened the blonde and took some colour up nearer the root area. We had to be careful because the hair was dry and split. We used a new clay lightener, which went on beautifully and was easy to apply freehand!

Our second model, had pre-lightened hair and wanted to tone it to a good ash tone. We also darkened and flattened her roots. This gave it a modern twist and would help to minimise damage by not overlapping the bleach on the root.

Our third model was highly blonde already, through the lengths and ends and fairly dark on the root. After talking to her, she wanted to get rid of the block blonde colour and go darker but keeping it slightly darker at the root and lighter on the ends with a bronde shade (half blonde, half brown). This meant putting some red and copper tone into the lengths and ends and also putting some blonde in too to avoid making it too dark.

Lastly, our fourth model had been using box colour and she had banding and dark ends where the colour had overlapped. We de-coloured her hair first, which is great for lifting out old colour. One can never be sure how a de-colour will develop and what colour the hair might end up, however, we had a lovely clean result which made it easier to start again with. We put some lovely copper tone into the models hair and also put a few soft caramel highlights through, to avoid going back to another block colour.

Training is at the core of everything we do and even simple colour and styling work, is always welcomed. We always want to improve and stay on top of the things we are good at.

December isn’t far away!

Look out for our next blog where we will announce our Christmas opening times.

It’s only 2 weeks until our photoshoot and we are busy prepping our lovely models. We can’t wait to share the story with our readers over the coming weeks.
