As our gorgeous Brazilian blow dries are on special offer for the summer, it would be nice to know exactly how they work and how they can transform frizzy, thick or damaged hair!
Hair is made of many layers and how it is structured depends on genetics, lifestyle, environment factors and chemical treatments, such as lightening and colouring.
When hair is naturally frizzy, it is simply the cuticle or outer layers not lying flat. This is caused by a lack of moisture.
Humidity makes frizzy hair even dryer unfortunately, as it absorbs moisture from the air.
Hair structure is made up of a protein, called keratin. A Brazilian blow dry, will fill the hair with keratin and make it look and appear smooth. The need for blow drying with a brush, becomes much less as every hair will be plumped with protein, allowing the hair to rest in place.
Heat plays a big part in the process of the Brazilian, sealing in the protein and protecting the cuticle from moisture.
Originating in Brazil, using ingredients indigenous to the land.
A Brazilian blow dry will suit any hair, any length or thickness, however the difference it makes to frizzy, wavy or curly hair, will be much more noticeable. It is never recommended as a hair straightener but in some cases it does naturally smooth the hair, giving it a straight appearance.
Once you’re in the salon, your hair will be cleansed with the Amazon Shine cleansing shampoo, to remove any products or dirt, then applied carefully to all of the hair.
This process is important and it has to be left on for at least 20 minutes. Then it will be blow dried straight and gone over with the straighteners to seal the protein in. Leaving the hair feeling sleek and smooth. The more times the process is carried out, the better the result. The effects can last up to 4 months or longer in a few cases…
The results speak for themselves.
For thicker, curlier or frizzy hair, it is beneficial to have it done more regularly.
We are always happy to advise on what’s best for you.
