Mel is the owner of 77 The Hill.
The salon has been on Windmill Hill for 31 years.
The continued success is largely down to Mel with his reputation for good customer service spanning for years.
As a team, we get our inspiration from many sources. Social media, magazines, celebrities, other salons but
probably most importantly, each other.
Top of that list is of course, Mel.
Mel’s speciality has always been a super haircut. He loves to create super hair styles using his many different pairs of scissors. Any team member that’s free whilst he’s working, will sit and watch him at work. Even stylists that have years of experience gain inspiration this way.
Recently, Mel carried out some training with our lovely Junior Apprentice, Michaela. He was keen to let her do her own thing, with a little guidance from him along the way.
First, Michaela set a block, using small rollers and left it to dry overnight to make sure it was really tight.
Then, she loosely combed it out and set about backcombing to make it fuller. Mel showed her how to backcomb to make the hair as full as humanly possible!
The result as you can see, was amazing and should stay in place forever!
Setting hair is very important for up styles, or weddings and events. Putting rollers in the night before, ensures the hair will be at its fullest and able to stay in place possibly all day – especially for bridal hair.
For the most important days of your life, it’s not worth taking any risks with your hairstyle. We would always recommend at least one practice session first and that way, we know what your hair is capable of and how long it might stay in place.
Remember, we have been taught by the best!
